The Back, 2025

The Back is an installation that transforms the back of a U-Haul truck into an immersive, soft-walled environment made entirely from the artist’s own cut and hand-stitched paintings. Every surface, from walls, floor, seating, and pillows, is covered in reassembled pieces of past works, forming a layered and color-saturated space.

The piece invites viewers into the imagined space between the back of a painting and the wall, a place that is usually hidden and inaccessible. By transforming paintings into physical space, the installation challenges traditional boundaries of the medium and invites a more tactile, immersive relationship with art. Soft sculptural elements, including pillows made from paintings, encourage visitors to sit, rest, and spend time within the environment. What was once discarded or set aside becomes a site of comfort, reflection, and transformation.
